Have You Read the AAAAI’s Draft Penicillin Allergy Position Statement?

You are invited to review the AAAAI’s draft position statement on penicillin allergy. Click here for a link to the draft, along with further information. The deadline to submit comments is Tuesday, September 6.

The AAAAI has identified verification of patient reported penicillin allergy as an important means of combating antibiotic resistance, thus the Board of Directors requested development of this position statement as part of a larger advocacy effort that includes ongoing AAAAI engagement with the Stakeholders for Antibiotic Resistance Coalition, the Presidential Commission on Antimicrobial Resistance, participation in development of the National Quality Forum Antibiotic Stewardship Playbook, and other activities.

The draft penicillin allergy position statement was written by the AAAAI’s Penicillin Allergy and Antibiotic Resistance Work Group, which includes David M. Lang, MD, FAAAAI, lead author, Mariana C. Castells, MD, PhD, FAAAAI, David A. Khan, MD, FAAAAI, Eric M. Macy, MD, FAAAAI, and Andrew W. Murphy, MD, FAAAAI.
