Updated Practice Parameter on Influenza Vaccine for Egg Allergic Patients Published

The AAAAI/ACAAI Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters has published “Administration of influenza vaccines to egg allergic recipients: A practice parameter update 2017."

The update concluded that influenza vaccine recipients with egg allergy are at no greater risk for a systemic allergic reaction than those without egg allergy. The parameter’s findings were reported in TIME Online, Business Insider and MedPage Today.

Obese Preschoolers with Asthma Have More Exacerbations, but Show Improvement with Inhaled Corticosteroids

In a recent article published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, researchers found that young children off controller therapy and are overweight or obese had greater asthma impairment and exacerbations, but could be responsive to certain therapies.

The research indicates that, unlike older asthmatic patients, overweight and obese children from 2 to 5 years-old do not have reduced responsiveness to inhaled corticosteroid therapy and could benefit from the treatment.
