Boxed Warning on Asthma-Related Death Removed from Drugs Containing LABAs and ICS

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is removing the boxed warning about asthma-related death from long-acting beta agonists (LABAs) and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS). After a review of four large clinical safety trials involving over 41,000 patients, they found that treating asthma with LABAs in combination with ICS does not significantly increase the risk of more serious asthma-related side effects than treatment with ICS alone. Visit the FDA’s website to read the specific warning label changes.
