Comment on Update to Food Allergy Guidelines by April 18

You are urged to comment on a draft update to the 2010 Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Food Allergy in the United States. The public comment period will close April 18.

The guidelines update was prompted after the results of the Learning Early About Peanut allergy (LEAP) study were presented at the 2015 AAAAI Annual Meeting and simultaneously published in The New England Journal of Medicine. The LEAP study demonstrated that introducing peanut-containing foods early in life to infants at high risk for peanut allergy strikingly reduced the subsequent development of peanut allergy.

The AAAAI was involved in developing the draft guidelines update, with Hugh A. Sampson, MD, FAAAAI, and David Fleischer, MD, FAAAAI, serving as representatives to the coordinating committee.
