Keep in Mind Upcoming CMS Deadlines
The deadlines for the new CPIA Study, EHR attestations and PQRS reporting are approaching quickly.
New CPIA Study
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released a new Clinical Practice Improvement Activities (CPIA) Study. The CPIA is one of the four Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) categories under the new Medicare payment reform aka Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). The four MIPS categories include:
- Quality – replaced the PQRS program
- Advancing Care Information (ACI) – replaced the Meaningful Use program
- Clinical practice improvement activities – new performance category
- Resource use – replaced the Value Modifier program
For details on each category criteria, visit the CMS Quality Payment Page at qpp.cms.gov.
MIPS eligible clinicians and groups participating in the study will receive full category credit (40 points). Participation is open to clinicians in rural and non-rural settings on a first-come, first-served basis. Clinicians interested may send their application to CMSCPIAStudy@ketchum.com no later than January 31.
EHR Attestations
In addition, CMS opens attestation for the 2017 EHR Incentive Program year from January 3 to February 28. As done in previous years, providers are required to attest to a single set of objectives and/or measures of the program. You can find the 2017 objectives for eligible professionals here and hospitals here.
Visit the CMS Registration and Attestation System and follow the steps.
The EHR Information Center is open to assist you with all of your registration and attestation system inquiries. Contact them at:
