Now is the Time to Join an AAAAI Committee

If you've been thinking about joining one of the AAAAI’s committees, now is the time to get involved. The 2016-2017 committee appointment process is underway.

There is a committee for every interest and your involvement helps the AAAAI move the specialty forward. Being involved in AAAAI committees will also allow you to develop additional knowledge, share your expertise and network with your colleagues. Visit the AAAAI website at aaaai.org/committees to learn more about the committee opportunities available to all AAAAI members.

If you’d like to get involved, the process is simple. All you need to do is email committees@aaaai.org with the committees you have an interest in joining. You can nominate colleagues as well.

Emails must be received by September 11, 2015, to be considered for the 2016-2017 committee term, which begins March 2016.

Nominations are reviewed by AAAAI President-Elect Thomas A. Fleisher, MD, FAAAAI, and presented to the Board of Directors at their November 2015 meeting. You will receive notification in December 2015 if your appointment has been approved.

Committees are groups of members self-selected, chosen or appointed to perform a specified service or function on behalf and for the benefit of all members of the AAAAI. (From time to time, non-members may be asked to participate in a committee meeting or provide expert counsel on a certain issue.)

Each committee has a clearly stated purpose, which is reviewed annually by the committee. The AAAAI has three types of committees: interest section, division and Board committees.

Membership on interest section committees are by member self-nomination or nomination by another member of the AAAAI whereas division and Board committees are composed of individuals who have expressed an interest in serving on these committees and are selected by the president-elect of the AAAAI.
