In Memory: Sheldon C. Siegel, MD, FAAAAI

Condolences to the friends and family of AAAAI Past President Sheldon C. Siegel, MD, FAAAAI, who passed away last month.

Siegel received his degrees from the University of Minnesota and served with the United States Air Force (as Director of Pediatrics and Allergy at Lackland Air Force Hospital and subsequently as an Inspector General overseas) before entering a private practice in Los Angeles.

He was a co-founder of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) who was passionate about providing asthmatic care for school-age children on a local basis, along with foundation sponsored, medically staffed summer camps for asthmatic children that could not otherwise utilize or afford such facilities. He also joined the University of California-Los Angeles faculty as a clinical professor where he was revered by colleagues and fellows and recognized for his research, leadership and training.

He is remembered by his loved ones as a husband to loving wife Priscilla (deceased) and father to Linda Brown and Nancy Schneider (deceased), with 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
